So how do you know which cabinet type is right for you? Every type of cabinet varies in the quality level, cost, retail selling price, delivery schedules, and reliability factors. The Breakdown of Cabinetry Types

Kemper Cabinetry

Kemper Cabinetry

1. Stock

This type of cabinetry offers a full range of cabinets in specified sizes which can meet the needs of most people at a cost-effective price. However, since this type of cabinetry is made in an assembly-line fashion, there are very few modifications that can be done. If you are looking for cabinetry that is built specifically for your project, then this is not for you. This type of cabinetry varies in quality depending on the manufacturer so it’s important to look into the details of materials and hardware used before making your purchase. Stock cabinetry is a great option for projects that have tight budgets or time constraints and offers the advantage of availability, specified quality level, consistency of service from large, stable manufacturers, and a short lead time of 2-5 weeks (typically).

2. Semi-Custom

This type of cabinetry has a wide variety of quality and price levels. Like stock cabinetry, semi-custom cabinetry is made in an assembly-line fashion, however, this type of cabinetry offers more choices for modification. Specifications such as door styles, finishes, wood species, accessory modifications, drawer box options, and custom cabinet size possibilities are offered with semi-custom cabinets. Many companies even offer cabinets with a wide variety of accessories, moldings or other decorative details. These are made to order and have a lead time of 6-8 weeks (typically).

3. Custom

If you are looking for one of a kind, unique, handmade cabinetry, then custom cabinetry is right for you. Custom cabinet manufacturers produce one kitchen at a time and do not start until the kitchen design and all of the details have been finalized. Custom mantle hoods, turned-wood posts, curved/angled cabinetry elements, and free-standing furniture pieces are all available with custom cabinetry. These manufacturers typically offer the latest in functional hardware, technology, construction methods, case materials and accessories available. Custom cabinetry is the right choice for most commercial projects due to the unique sizes and specifications each project has. Due to the customization, this process has a longer lead time of up to 8 weeks, but this lead time can vary because each project is different. Custom cabinetry is on the higher end when it comes to pricing, but it does give you the most flexibility when it comes to selection, sizing, finishes and every little detail involved. Apuzzo Kitchens specializes in our own custom cabinetry line. If you can dream it, we can build it!

If you are looking for a fast project turnaround time with the most cost-effective price, stock cabinetry may be right for you. If you want the same quality of stock cabinetry with a little more room for modifications, then semi-custom might be just what you need. Custom cabinetry may be the right choice if you are seeking the unique and one of a kind kitchen of your dreams. Ultimately, the choice is up to your discretion.
