The Apuzzo Kitchens story begins in Italy where our founder Remo Apuzzo grew up. He was trained as a woodworker in his uncle’s woodshop, a family trade that was passed down from generation to generation. In the late 1950’s, Remo emigrated to the United States full of hope, dreams and the desire to eventually start his own business.
Right away, he found work in New York City with one of the leading case good manufacturers. He met his wife in the Bronx, and after a few years they moved to the Hudson Valley to start a family. He partnered with a local cabinetmaker in the Hudson Valley for about ten years, still with the dream of starting his own business one day. In 1979, that dream became a reality when he secured his first clients, purchased a 1,000 square foot woodshop, and decided to name the business Apuzzo Kitchens!
Over the first few years, business continued to grow with more customers and more employees. He mentored two of his sons, Joe and John, on the trade of woodworking and how to run a business. Joe and John went off to college, but both returned home with their degrees to help their father run the family business.
Fast forward to today, almost forty years in business, with thousands of satisfied customers, a 6,000 square foot woodshop, a 1,200 square foot showroom, more employees to support the growing business, and Apuzzo Kitchens continues to look the future with great optimism. And, with one of Remo’s granddaughters joining the business, Apuzzo Kitchens is now a third generation family owned and operated business. Also, Remo still comes to the woodshop most days to help build cabinets.
Apuzzo Kitchens prides itself in supporting local businesses, joining the green building movement and being on the cutting edge of residential trends.
